Green Cities, Infrastructure and Energy Programme
Designing a visual identity and comprehensive set of communications material.
We were brought on board to design the initial visual identity and look and feel for the Green Cities, Infrastructure and Energy Programme (GCIEP), a flagship UK international development initiative funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO). Running from 2023 to 2026, GCIEP has supported over 35 countries and 55 cities in improving their urban spaces, energy systems and infrastructure.
Following the identity rollout, we applied the brand across all communications materials, reports, presentations, and infographics throughout the full lifecycle of the programme. Collaborating closely with international teams across multiple specialities, we maintained a clean, consistent design language that respected cultural nuances while keeping sustainability at the forefront.
Building on this visual foundation, our tailored assets brought clarity to complex technical subjects. The resulting suite of materials provided a cohesive, accessible framework across all media, balancing the programme’s expansive global scope with a sharp focus on narrative impact.

“Working with Caroline on the £70 million Green Cities, Infrastructure and Energy Programme, funded by the UK’s FCDO, has been a real pleasure. As a UK Government Centre of Expertise, we produced a large number of engaging learning notes, best practice guides and toolkits. Caroline developed a graphic design brand, colour palette and set of visual themes for all public-facing documents, as well as many of the key internal reports for FCDO. The result is a visually stunning, professional and clear set of over 50 programme outputs that have helped to disseminate knowledge and learning to a wide audience.”
